Seven Weekly Locations
Servicing New York City and New Jersey, each location is staffed with friendly volunteers and outreach experts waiting to serve meals and build bridges to a brighter future.
For over 30 years, we've helped transform the lives of those experiencing homelessness & poverty.
We foster inclusive communities and create a network of care to assist people as they rebuild their lives. Here is our 2023 impact:
Volunteer
We mobilize over 2,000 volunteers a year — and whether it's your first time or your hundredth time, you have something unique to bring to the table. Volunteers transform lives, and in the process are transformed themselves. Our volunteers are beacons of hope and connection to hurting and isolated people.

This podcast is dedicated to changing the cultural narratives about homelessness and shedding light on how we can mobilize to be part of the solution. In this podcast, we talk to everyday people, experts, entrepreneurs, and activists helping their unhoused neighbors find their way home again.

Today, I want to take a moment to discuss a topic that often remains unseen, yet significantly impacts those we serve at City Relief – the profound difficulty of securing employment when you're unhoused.
As we wrap up our focus this month on Access to Food & Basic Necessities, I'd like to delve deeper into the role of shelters in addressing homelessness and where they sometimes fall short.
We often hear about climate change and its devastating impact on our planet—melting ice caps, endangered polar bears, and extreme weather events. But have you ever considered how it affects the people who are the most vulnerable?
Imagine waking up hungry and uncertain where your first and perhaps only meal of the day will come from. This is the harsh reality for many homeless individuals every single day.
Living on the streets, in shelters, or on subways presents a vast array of challenges that most of us never have to think about. In today's newsletter, I want to shed some light on one of the daily hurdles faced by many of our friends at City Relief - accessing basic hygiene facilities.
Words matter. I have seen firsthand how our guests at City Relief can often be described with language that would dehumanize and demoralize any of us. Let’s face it, the words we use to talk about people inevitably end up impacting the way we engage with people.
