Three examples of random acts of kindness

Here at City Relief, we believe that a random act of kindness can go a long way. We've found that just a simple gesture could change the course of someone's day, month, or year.

And just because it's random doesn't mean you can't plan for it!

Some easy practices we can do in our daily lives set us up to be a blessing. So, just in case you were all out of ideas, we've dropped in midweek to give you some tips on practicing random acts of kindness in your own way.

Take the time: Leave 15 minutes early, so you have time to engage with someone just in case.

Break a $20: Each week, break a $20 bill with the purpose of giving it away to people throughout the week.

Treat someone to coffee: Even a $5 gift card will allow someone to get a drink, use a restroom, and sit down for a while to rest.

What we experience as a few extra minutes on the subway or a cup of coffee is someone else's rekindling of hope and a moment of peace.

It feels good to know that being kind is not only easy, but it's also worth it. So let us not forsake small beginnings and remember that kindness often starts with us.
