Cycle Of Homelessness

Much of the work we do here at City Relief exists to help people break the cycle of homelessness. We do this by compassionately connecting individuals to local resources that lead to housing and recovery.

Within this process, we've found that the roadblocks to breaking this cycle are exceptionally challenging. There are systemic, structural, and relational hurdles that an individual may face on this path.

Very often, a person experiencing homelessness will be granted assistance based on their current circumstances. However, the benefit is removed as soon as that person's circumstances improve . Eventually, they lose the benefits that helped them get back on their feet and land back at their starting place.

This is called The Poverty Trap. It is a vicious, heartbreaking cycle.

We are committed to helping break this cycle here at City Relief. We believe that the best way forward is to take a holistic approach by not only supporting someone with resources but walking alongside them and providing them with community.
