NYC Housing Resources To Help Someone In Need

We know that in these uncertain times, people face homelessness more than ever. We want to do our part to ensure our community feels equipped.

In New York City, various rental solutions are available to those at risk for homelessness, and we’ve listed a few here as a resource for you.

If you or someone you know in New York City is at risk for homelessness, here are three ways to begin restoring housing security.

File for Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP)

ERAP makes funding available to assist households unable to pay rent or utilities. Those who qualify can receive up to 12 monthly rental/utility arrears payments and up to 3 months of additional rental assistance if the household is expected to spend 30 percent or more of their gross monthly income to pay rent.

Call Housing Court Answers

This organization educates and empowers tenants and small property owners through legal information and a hotline. Call 212-962-4795 if you need help.

Visit the Tenant Resource Portal or call 311 and say, “Tenant Helpline.”

The City designed this portal to help renters navigate public and private resources that can stabilize their housing situation. A tenant seeking help will be asked questions and directed to the most valuable resources based on their responses.

Being at risk of losing your home can be daunting, and we want you to know that we are here for you each step. You matter to this community, and we will continue to advocate for you in every way possible.
